Battle of Les Macarons

So. I'm on the hunt to find the best macarons ever. The famous teahouse, Ladurée is known for theirs, but are they really so phenomenal. On the second day of my search in France, I can say that Ladurée is thus far the most amazing. Their Caramel and Rose flavored are my personal favorites. I also went to another store, with more flavors (such as earl grey and creme caramel), but Laudrée still takes the cake ;)

I'm going to Paris for the second time tomorrow! I have been to Paris, Versailles, St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice and Eze in France before, but on this trip, after spending 4 days in paris, I'm going to Lyon and Avignon, two cities that I have not visited before. French fashion is so inspiring to me, due to its classic simplicity and clean elegance. They are also very creative with their use of scarves. Looking forward to being inspired.

This is a look that I'm really liking for next fall or maybe even late this winter, when the weather is not quite as frightful, but flowers aren't making their appearance yet. It's relaxed but put together, with a palette of neutrals and a splash of bright blue. It looks comfortable and draws from guy's styles, oversized sweaters and oxfords. Also, the denim shorts are an unexpected twist to an otherwise cozy outfit. I would wear this with a loose low pony and neutral makeup, with maybe navy eyeliner.

I found my silky shorts. H&M's organic line has a pair of khaki cargo shorts made of tencel, a plant that, when turned into a fabric, is lightweight and super soft. They're adorable, and I can't wait for school to be over so that I can wear them.

Its been a while since my last post. My 9 1/2 page term paper is done, and the only thing left to worry about is finals... and my party! I'm throwing a Marie Antoinette inspired "Modern Princess" fete d'anniversaire. http://katelandersevents.blogspot.com/2010/02/marie-antoinette-inspired-birthday.html has been really helpful inspiration wise, but I'm proud to say that I thought of the tiffany blue 16 inch ostrich feathers all by myself, before reading any party planning tips.

New Phone

This past week, I joined the ranks of the famous (including Jay-Z). No, I have not discovered some previously unseen singing or acting skills, but it doesn't matter because I have the COOLEST PHONE IN THE WORLD. Thats right, I have the Blackberry Celebrity Curve. Instead of the normal Blackberry Black, this is melted mother of pearl. The center button is deep red, and it came with a deep red case and headset. I am in love <3 . This phone is not sold in stores or anything... so, yes. I feel special :)

Ok, so my sixteenth birthday is over a year away, but I like to be prepared. Possible themes: Tiffany & Co (unless I do my bedroom that way when I redecorate), Paige's Candy Bar (Like Dylan's Candy Bar), Enchanted Forest (Requiring lots of silver spray paint, fake trees, and *sparkles*). My cake will be from Pink Cake Box, I will have a candy bar instead of giving favors (like the ones designed by Amy Atlas; Check them out. They are fantastically gorgeous), my dress will be from New York Dress, and right now I'm leaning towards this one from Mignon , I will be wearing a crystal tiara headband (probably from Tiaratown and it will be a flat one, nothing obnoxious that screams "LOOK AT ME ITS MY BIRTHDAY SO IM A PRINCESS") with a messy bun, like Lauren Conrad or Jessica Alba's.

Stains are a pain. Wear black.

I was sitting in History today, staring disdainfully at my hot chocolate stained, perfectly ironed, white button-down when I realized: I'm a klutz. White is not a color that I have any success in. So instead of writing a painfully dull history paper, I am lamenting my school's dress code and the fact that I have only 1 navy polo. Since navy is as close to black as we're allowed to get, I will be buying more polos when I have the chance... and once this paper's done.

C'est la vie, so just go with it.

Ok, first post. Here it goes:

I have decided to start a blog about anything that enters my mind. Knowing me, those things will probably have to do with fashion and travel. Fashion has been a passion of mine since I was little, and instead of dressing up my Barbies, I would ask my grandmother to help me sew lace and fabric scraps onto their existing outfits. I ADORE traveling. I have been to over 25 countries in my life. My favorite places are Paris and Portofino. The culture, style and especially food (yum) from other countries have influenced me greatly, and I am forever thankful that my parents have decided to give my sister and I the opportunities that we are given (regarding travel, education etc.).

I am one of those people that is incredibly opinionated but usually keeps my mouth shut. I firmly believe that life happens, and moaning and whining over whatever may occur is a waste of time. It's the 'C'est la Vie' philosophy (A.K.A. That's life, so just go with it). Also, I talk/write like an English professor (save a few grammatical or spelling errors), which I know is tres irritating. I am nearly fluent in French, and a complete Francophile, so if I use an unhealthy amount of French phrases, please excuse me. I like computer science, world history and physics (though I rarely understand the latter), and much to the shock and awe of my friends, I religiously watch BBC world news.

Well... Now I am tired, but I like this blogging idea. It might work out after all.
